Arbraçada is a choreography-in-process generated by the interactive dance laboratory organised by NU2’s, in the context of the IDN - Image, Dance, New Media Festival. The piece is a collaboration between Àngels Margarit and Núria Font that seeks an organic relationship, a dialogue space between gesture, images, light, and sound, a vegetal kinetics for a dance solo where Àngels Margarit makes images dance as she dances, movements beyond the body itself.

Throughout Àngels Margarit’s choreographic career, the vegetal world has been highly present. As an inevitable referent in some works, it has generated language, landscape, and metaphor in the poetic imaginary of her creations.

In Arbraçada there is a return to this recurrent and familiar universe, a personal and symbiotic identification, but from a new and different space integrating technology in the writing of the body in space.

Images of plantations of alamos, elms, or poplars in the Baix Empordà region and that make up a curious landscape of gardened nature, of an “urbanised” woodland, create a visual support.

Dance, movement, and gesture play with the natural-artificial opposition or fusion, organic minimalism, cycle and duration, mobility, and taking root, a tree state…

To enter into the tree state you must first find your way into the desperation of lizardry at three o’clock in the afternoon in the month of August. In two years spite and inertia will be in your mouth. A state of lyrical rot proceeds spite in the voice.
